Sri Maha Periyava - Maheswara Avatar - Part 3 ! Smt.Rajalakshmi Vittal maami's experiences ! My sister-in-law‘s (husband’s sister) family was, and still is, devoted to Sri Maha Swami. They would do bikshavandan regularly and moved closely with Him. I too had a desire to do bikshai to Sri Periyava and mentioned it to her. She said, you are so devoted to Him, your wish will certainly be fulfilled. As I told you earlier, this was during the time when I was immersed in the family responsibilities and had little time to visit Him, and could not even think of doing bhikshai to Him. Then, one day, I had a dream. A sage accompanied by a middle aged woman clad in white sari in Telugu style walked into the room. I immediately identified the sage as Sri Maha Periyava, but, took a little longer, as they came closer, to recognize the woman. It was Aryaambaa, mother of Sri Adhi Sankara ! In the dream, I told Him of my wish to do bhikshai to Him. He then said, why are you so anxious about it, a bowl of rice with butter milk would do. I woke up abruptly. It took a few minutes to shake off the hang over and then I thought about the dream. It became clear to me that Maha Periyava is none other than Sri Adhi Sankara, who is Lord Mahadev Himself. This was the first instance when He revealed to me that He was Maheswara avatar. I started doing bhikshai to Him only after we moved to Bangalore in the mid 70s and it continued till Maha Swami attained siddhi in Jan 1994. Then, I asked Sri Mathur Swamigal who incidentally is the son of my sister-in-law in Poorvaashrama, what should I do. He instructed me to start doing Maha Periyava Jayanthi.
